Sotacor (generic name: Sotalol; brand names: Sotalex / Sotacor) belongs to the group of medicines known as beta-blockers.
Sotacor is indicated for use in the prevention and treatment of certain types of irregular heartbeat (supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias).

To properly control your condition, Sotacor must be taken everyday. Continue taking Sotacor for as long as your doctor prescribes.
Do not stop taking Sotacor or lower the dose without first checking with your doctor. Your doctor may want you to gradually reduce the amount of Sotacor you are taking before stopping completely.
Do not take an antacid that has aluminum or magnesium in it within 2 hours before or after you take Sotacor.
If you are being treated for diabetes, make sure you check your blood sugar level regularly. Your doctor may need to change your dose of diabetic medicines, including insulin.
If you forget a dose, just take the next dose when it is due. Do not take more than one dose at a time to make up for missed doses.
Store Sotacor at room temperature. Avoid exposure to heat, light and moisture.

Before taking Sotacor, tell your doctor if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have certain other heart conditions such as uncontrolled heart failure or an enlarged heart; you suffer from lung or kidney problems; or you have diabetes;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
