Pritor General Info

Pritor (generic name: Telmisartan; brand names: Pritor / Kinzal / Telma / Telday / Teleact D) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB).

Pritor is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medicines.

Pritor is a once-daily medication that works 24 hours a day. This means Pritor is still working in the early morning, up until the next pill is taken, providing a full 24-hour blood pressure control.

Pritor works by decreasing certain chemicals in the body that cause blood vessels to constrict (narrow).

Pritor Recommendations

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Pritor exactly as directed.

Take Pritor by mouth with or without food. The usual starting dose of Pritor tablets is 40 mg once a day, but dosage must be individualized. Blood pressure response is dose-related over the range of 20 mg to 80 mg.

The antihypertensive effect is apparent after the first dose and maximal reduction is generally attained after 4 weeks.

Try to take Pritor at the same time every day.

If you miss a dose of Pritor, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Store Pritor in a cool dry place, away from direct heat and light.

you have liver, kidney or gallbladder problems;
