Aprovel General Info

Aprovel (generic name: irbesartan; brand names include: Approvel / Aprovel/ Irovel / Karvea) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used mainly for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension).

Aprovel is also indicated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy with an elevated serum creatinine and proteinuria in patients with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

In people with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, Aprovel is also prescribed to stave off damage to the kidneys, often delaying the need for dialysis and a kidney transplant.

Aprovel Recommendations

Continue to take Aprovel even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Aprovel without talking to your doctor.

No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients, or in patients with hepatic impairment or mild to severe renal impairment.

If you miss a dose of Aprovel, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
